Two cities. Two cases. One mechanic nobody else uses.
Hiddening is the WhatsApp scavenger hunt — no app to download, no booking slot, no script-reading guide trailing behind you. You message the Operator. The Operator sends a clue. The city becomes a puzzle.
Norwich runs a detective case. Cambridge runs a Cold-War spy trail. Both take 90 to 120 minutes. Both cost £20 for your whole group, not per head. Both happen in a real city you thought you already knew.
Most people walk right past. You won’t.
How it works
- Pick your city. Norwich for the detective case. Cambridge for the spy trail.
- Buy the ticket. £20 covers your whole group — not per head. Pay once, play together.
- Walk to the start point. Norwich Castle or Market Square. The exact spot is in your booking email.
- Message the Operator on WhatsApp. The first clue lands in seconds. Reply when you’re ready for the next.
- Walk the case. Decode statues, alleys, plaques, and the things tourists never look at. Pace is yours. Stop for coffee. Argue about the answer.

Norwich Detective Scavenger Hunt
A noir mystery starting at Norwich Castle. The current case: Brother Thomas. Saxon market squares, alleys flint-knapped to perfection, a paving slab for every vanished trade. The streets produce evidence you didn’t ask for.
- Start: Norwich Castle
- Theme: detective · noir mystery
- Duration: 90–120 minutes
- Best for: dates, families, friends who like puzzles
Cambridge Spy Scavenger Hunt
A Cold-War spy trail starting at Market Square. Your handler waits in WhatsApp. The drop is somewhere among the colleges. Trinity is where Soviet agents were recruited over sherry — you’ll walk through the courtyards where it actually happened.
- Start: Market Square
- Theme: espionage · Cold War
- Duration: 90–120 minutes
- Best for: dates, history nerds, anyone who liked Tinker Tailor
What makes a Hiddening hunt different
- WhatsApp delivery. The Operator is in your pocket. No app, no install, no battery panic at minute 40.
- Group ticket. £20 covers your whole group. The more of you there are, the cheaper it gets per head.
- No booking slot. Buy now, play next week, play tonight. You decide.
- Narrative, not a list. You’re inside a case — not ticking off landmarks. The story unlocks the city, not the other way round.
- Written for the city it’s in. Norwich isn’t a swapped-out template. Neither is Cambridge. Local history, real research, voices that fit the place.
Good to know
- WhatsApp is the mechanism. You’ll need it on the phone you’re playing on. Download it before you leave the house.
- It’s a real city. Watch the traffic, mind the pavements, look up from your phone.
- One ticket per group. £20 covers everyone — not £20 per person.
- Play whenever you like. No slot to book. Best in daylight; equally fine on a Sunday afternoon as a Friday evening.
- Solo is fine. The Operator doesn’t mind talking to one person. Some of our best players walk it alone.
Frequently asked
Do I need to download anything?
Just WhatsApp, which you almost certainly already have. There’s no Hiddening app, no second login, no map software.
How long does it take?
90 to 120 minutes if you keep moving. Longer if you stop for coffee, which most people do.
Is it ok for kids?
Yes. The cases are written so a 10-year-old can follow them and an adult won’t feel patronised. Younger is fine if they’ll cope with 90 minutes of walking. There’s no scary content.
What if it rains?
You walk. It’s the UK. Bring a coat. The case stays open whenever you want to come back — you can pause and resume.
Can I play solo?
Yes. The Operator will talk to one of you or twelve of you for the same £20. Some of our most engaged players have walked it alone.
Can I refer people for commission?
We run a 20% affiliate programme — £4 a booking, monthly PayPal payouts. Sign up here.
